acquire the da Vinci® Si®™ Surgical System
Montrose
Memorial Hospital
in Montrose, Colorado
has become the first hospital in the state to acquire the
da Vinci Si Surgical System,
®™ the latest generation of Intuitive Surgical’s
da Vinci product line.
The da
Vinci Si System retains and builds upon the core technology at
the heart of the existing da Vinci®
and da Vinci®
S™
Systems. This includes advanced 3D HD visualization
with up to 10x magnification, offering surgeons an immersive view of
the operative field, superior to that offered by conventional
surgical approaches; EndoWrist®
instrumentation, providing da Vinci surgeons
with natural dexterity and range of motion far greater than even the
human hand; and Intuitive®
motion technology, which replicates the operative
experience and control of open surgery by preserving natural
eye-hand-instrument alignment and intuitive instrument control.
Together, these technological advancements provide
Montrose
Memorial Hospital
surgeons with unparalleled precision, dexterity and control that
enable a minimally invasive approach for many complex surgical
procedures.
The
da Vinci Si is Montrose
Memorial
Hospital’s first da Vinci System
and the first da Vinci Si in clinical service in the state of
Colorado.
"The da
Vinci Si Surgical System will give us the ability to see the
anatomy better and treat prostate cancer more effectively while
offering the patient the most minimally invasive surgery possible,"
says Dr. Craig Peterson, Urologist at
Montrose
Memorial Hospital.
"In our experience, this will mean a better operation for the
patient with reduced complications, and shorter hospital stays and
recovery time."
Dave Hample, CEO
states; "We are very pleased to have the opportunity to be the first
team in the state to operate with the da Vinci Si model.
We've only started to explore all the capabilities of this system."

Early Breast Cancer Detection Technology
Takes a Major Step Forward!
Montrose Memorial Hospital Mammography Department is going digital.
Beginning the week of June 22, all mammogram studies will use
digital technology.
With digital mammography, x-ray images can be displayed on a
computer workstation allowing the radiologist to magnify or optimize
a particular area and adjust the contrast of the image. Since the
digital mammogram doesn’t need to be developed, the technologist can
immediately verify that the images are clear and complete, thus
shortening your exam time.
A recent study completed by the American College of Radiology
Imaging Network has proven that digital mammography is especially
effective for women under 50; women who are pre-menopausal or in its
beginning stages; and women with dense breasts. In this study,
which included more than 42,000 women, digital mammograms found
cancers that traditional mammograms may have missed.
The new digital technology will enhance our already
outstanding mammography service. This department is
accredited by the American College of Radiology and the Federal
Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA); which assures that you
will receive the highest quality images. Our radiologists are Board
Certified and our technologists are registered in Radiology and
Mammography. This means the Mammographers have completed 40
additional hours of study specific to mammography, completed
supervised practical work, successfully passed certification exams,
and taken post-graduate continuing education courses to maintain
certification from the American
College of Radiology.
Because your health is important to us and we know
your life can be very busy; MMH will offer evening and Saturday
mammogram appointments starting this month. If you have questions,
or need to schedule an appointment, please call
252-2540.
