Family Center

What is the Family Center’s Hospital Follow-up Program?

CoralAnn Hackett, RN, Family Center Director

Every mom who delivers their baby at Montrose Memorial Hospital receives a phone call three to five days after discharge to see how mom and baby are doing.  If they are having breastfeeding problems they can come into the hospital Free Of Charge as an outpatient to see a breastfeeding counselor who will assist them with their breastfeeding problems.  Moms can come in as many times as needed to establish good breastfeeding skills.  The Family Center also loans out breast pumps free of charge to moms who have, pre-term babies, sick babies, babies who aren’t feeding well at discharge, inverted nipples, or are returning to work.  This program recently won one of eight grants given in the State of Colorado to purchase additional breast pumps.

The Nursery

The Family Center birthing unit provides a positive birthing experience for families and babies. Three private birthing suites feature state-of-the-art delivery with the comfort of a home-like atmosphere.
