Montrose Memorial Hospital Partners

With Black Canyon Surgical Center

Montrose Memorial Hospital and the Black Canyon Surgical Center announced today that they have finalized a business agreement.  The Hospital has acquired a 51% ownership interest in which the hospital will participate in the Surgical Center.  The day to day operations of the Surgery Center will not change with this arrangement. It is our shared intent that this new relationship will strengthen our mutual vision of serving our community with the highest quality of care, delivered in the most effective setting.

Dr. Vin Singh, Chairman of the Surgical Center, stated “This business arrangement is a natural progression in the improvement of health care services in Montrose.  Most recently, this has been demonstrated by the hospital’s expansion and commitment to inpatient care in 2005, the addition of the San Juan Cancer Center in 2006 and now improved efficiency and choice with outpatient surgical care.  As Montrose and our neighboring counties continue to grow, we see this collaboration as an opportunity to improve our foundation of services and to distinguish us as a full service regional provider.”

“We have been in discussions for about one year and both entities are very excited about this new relationship.  We see this as an enhancement to both organizations in recognizing our shared goals of serving our patients in the most cost effective, efficient way possible.  The Surgeons have been terrific to work with on this project.  We have always been “partners” in caring for our patients and this relationship now makes that situation even more cohesive” says MMH CEO, Ken Platou.

Wally Belden, Chair of the MMH Board of Trustees said, “I am very pleased that we are finally able to be involved with the Black Canyon Surgical Center. It has always been our goal to offer the very best service and options to our patients and I feel that this venture will be a win, win deal not only for the Doctors and the Hospital but more importantly it will give our patients the care and options that they need.  I would like to extend the Board of Directors thanks to all who have spent countless hours working this out.”
