Speech and Language Therapy

Speech Therapy at Montrose Memorial Hospital is provided on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Since communication disorders involve the whole family, home programs and counseling are an integral part of the therapy program.

Speech- Language Pathologists are highly trained professionals with a Masters Degree in Speech and Language Pathology and are certified by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association.

The scope of the services includes evaluation and treatment for communication disorders. Services are provided for infants through adults. Persons with mild disorders as well as those with multiple handicapping conditions are provided with appropriate therapies. Scottish Rite funding is available for children in need of speech and language services whose families are uninsured or under-insured.

Speech therapy services are available for inpatients and outpatients with speech impairments as a result of trauma, disease, congenital disorders and stroke.  Other impairments that may be treated by the speech pathologist include voice problems, stuttering, oral-motor/ feeding disorders, breathing and sound production.
