MMH Posts Results of 2016 Community Health Needs Assessment
Montrose Memorial Hospital completed its 2016 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) and posted the results on its website. Through the CHNA process, the Hospital determined the top health related needs of the community are Mental Health & Suicide, Maternal/Infant Measures, Heart Disease and Health Lifestyles. The Hospital has developed an implementation plan for addressing these needs including services/programs the hospital already offers, new services/programs the hospital may add, other organizations the hospital may partner with and metrics the hospital will use to track progress.
Our CEO Steve Hannah said, “One of the most important things that MMH does is this periodic review of the health needs of the community. In order to attain our vision of being the hospital and healthcare resource in our communities, this information is vital.”
The CHNA is a federal requirement of all non-profit hospitals to prove the hospital is providing community benefit and meeting the needs of local residents. The CHNA process follows federal guidelines including gathering statistical data from reputable sources, surveying “Local Experts” who meet specific criteria and developing an implementation plan for addressing the Significant Health Needs in the area.
Montrose Hospital is now working with the hospitals in Gunnison and Delta, along with public health representatives, to see how we can collaborate as a region. We are coming together to review our common areas of overlap, discuss how each area is currently addressing the issues and see if there are any joint opportunities. This will be an ongoing process and a great way to share ideas and improve the health of our region.
The complete report for MMH is available by clicking this link. Community members can also go the Administration office at the hospital and request a paper copy to review. If you have any additional feedback on the 2016 CHNA, please don’t hesitate to email us at marketing@MontroseHospital.com or call me.
