Prelim Hospital Score Not the Final Word

Montrose Memorial Hospital is on notice that, pending final scoring results, it could take a hit in Medicare payments.
Hospital officials note, however, that federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services data are preliminary and incomplete, excluding 65 percent of data used to assess and rank facilities on patients’ hospital-acquired conditions.
When the CMS factors in all of the data for the final report due later this summer, hospital CEO Steven Hannah expects that MMH will no longer rank in the lowest-performing 25 percent of hospitals for purposes of the Hospital Acquired Conditions Reduction Program, or HAC.
