CARDIOVASCULAR AND PULMONARY REHABILITATION

 

The Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Department uses an individualized multi disciplinary approach in caring for Cardiac (M.I./Heart Attack, Angina/Chest Pain, CABG/Coronary Artery Bypass Graft), Pulmonary (COPD/Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), Pulmonary Fibrosis, Restrictive Lung Disease and Vascular (Leg Pain/Claudication) patients.

The staff includes Registered Nurses, Respiratory Therapists and Exercise Physiologists with specialized training by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehab and the American College of Sports Medicine. Ancillary staff includes Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, pharmacists and dieticians.

  • The Phase I Inpatient Program includes education combined progressive activity.

  • Phase II Outpatient Programs are available for Cardiac, Pulmonary and Vascular patients three days per week.

  • Phase III is a maintenance exercise program available twice weekly for patients, spouses or persons desiring a supervised program.

Each Program Provides:

  • Education, treatment and prevention.

  • Aerobic and strengthening exercise.

  • Circuit training and weight training with continuous heart rhythm monitoring.

  • Vital Signs and Oxygen saturation monitored.

  • Emotional support – coping skills

  • Physician progress reports

Medicare reimburses Phase II Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab.  Physicians must approve participation and receive quarterly reports on their phase III patients. Phase III is a self-pay program.

Vascular Rehab requires a Cardiac/Pulmonary diagnosis for Medicare reimbursement.
