The Family Caregiver Support Group is open to all caregivers regardless of the circumstance they are experiencing. Dementia, stroke, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases, and any other long term debilitating and terminal condition takes a toll on caregivers. Gathering together with other caregivers who share a common journey is good therapy. The Family Caregiver Support Group that gathers at MMH is a safe, comfortable, place where caregivers can share their caregiver journeys in confidence. Caregivers provide emotional support by listening with empathy and sharing experiences that help each other. Facilitators are experienced caregivers who lead the session in such a way that caregivers support and learn from each other. They learn how to cope with their circumstances and encourage participants to take advantage of local resources. All caregivers are encouraged to come and share the journey.
Note: This is the first of two Family CareGiver Support Groups. The groups are identical, however two times are available to invite greater input from attendees.
